Despite the technology integration that is part of the daily lives of every student, the name “New Technology High School” may be a bit of a misnomer. What truly makes New Tech a model of educational excellence is its foundation in project-based learning. All course subjects at New Tech are integrated, so while learning literature, students also may be engaged in aspects of biology, social studies and math. At the end of a project, students won’t take an exam to test their knowledge, but more likely will be presenting a self-created Web site or PowerPoint presentation as a capstone for their project. New Tech is about experiential, real-world learning with education that takes a hands-on, minds-on approach.
