New Tech in Indiana
Education Reform for Economic Development
Indiana’s New Tech story demonstrates the impact of education transformation when communities, schools and higher education institutions partner together. CELL introduced New Tech to Indiana as a potential method to improve academic achievement and economic development. Students highly skilled in academics, critical thinking, project management, communication, and technology appealed so strongly to Indiana’s school and community leaders that the state’s first three New Techs opened in 2007. Since that time, Indiana has become the national leader in statewide New Tech implementation with more schools open and under development than any other state in the U.S. New Tech is a truly inspired approach to education. It has inspired students across Indiana who now are excited about learning. It has inspired educators who have transformed the way they teach to ensure every student graduates with 21st-century skills. It has inspired communities and businesses who are working together and finding resources to support this educational innovation. But most importantly, it has inspired the citizens of Indiana who are investing in the youth of today to ensure the potential of tomorrow.
