New Technology High School

New Technology High School (NTHS) is a technology-rich school design focused on graduating students with mastery of 21st-century knowledge and skills. NTHS employs a rigorous curriculum that embeds learning outcomes in all projects and assignments. New Technology Foundation (NTF) leads schools through the process of establishing unique learning outcomes. This happens through staff discussion to gain buy-in, understanding and commitment to the model.

Typical NTHS Learning Outcomes:

  • Technology Literacy
  • Citizenship and Ethics
  • Critical Thinking
  • Career Preparation
  • Collaboration
  • Written Communication
  • Oral Communication
  • Curricular Literacy

The cornerstone of NTHS's unique school design is project-based learning. This model moves the teacher from being a consumer of instructional products to the creator of learning experiences. Teachers learn to understand who is sitting in front of them, use their vast knowledge of content, resources and assessment, and construct learning experiences that are relevant and rigorous for students. Best exemplars of these instructional practices are shared among the network.

Each NTHS student has a personal computer with the latest software. Small class sizes and personal relationships with instructors create an environment in which students are responsible for their own learning. This method has prepared NTHS students across the country with the skills and knowledge for success in college and the 21st-century workplace.
