How do students learn, retain, and apply new information, and how can educators use that knowledge to strengthen instruction? The science of learning helps answer those questions.
The science of learning explores how the brain takes in, processes, stores, and retrieves information. Drawing on research from cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and education, it provides evidence-based insights into how learning happens and what practices best support student success.
At CELL, we help educators understand and apply the science of learning in practical, meaningful ways. Our work connects cognitive science research to classroom practice, equipping educators with strategies they can implement right away while building a deeper understanding of why those strategies are effective.
CELL offers a science of learning micro-credential to help educators apply science of learning research to the classroom. This course combines asynchronous learning with instructor-led discussions to offer flexibility for busy educators while maximizing learning. Our next cohort begins Fall 2026, and registration is now open.
What is the science of learning, and why does it matter for educators? This blog explores four key themes that define the science of learning.
